IGNITE Winter Percussion is holding our pre-season clinics and open auditions for the 2025-26 season in November, 2025.
IGNITE is an independent marching percussion ensemble that competes in the Indiana Percussion Association (IPA) and Winter Guard International (WGI). Find out more at our student FAQ page.

The Clinic/Audition Process
We have an informal audition process. On our 4 clinic/audition dates, we will teach technique and have students try out different instruments. During this time, we evaluate students’ performance skills, practice and progress at home, attitude, leadership, and responsibility. We may offer a student a contract at any time during the clinic/audition period.
This is also a chance for you to get to know the staff and other students and get a better idea of what the activity is like before you commit to the season.
Eligibility
Auditions are open to anyone who meets the following WGI and IPA eligibility requirements:
- Not over 22 years of age as of 12:01 AM on April 1, 2025
- No outstanding debts with other WGI or IPA organizations
- No WGI or IPA scholastic marching percussion unit at your school
Dates
Clinic/audition dates:
- Sunday, November 2, 1:00-7:00 PM
- Sunday, November 9, 1:00-7:00 PM
- Sunday, November 16, 1:00-7:00 PM
- Saturday, November 22, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Coming to multiple dates is helpful, but if you are there for any of these dates, you will be considered. You can interact with staff through Slack and submit videos to show your progress and get feedback.

Season Calendar
Our rehearsal calendar is generally 1 day per weekend from November to April, with a multi-day camp during the winter school break. Here are some important dates to know:
- Winter Camp (1/1-1/4)
- IPA Invitational (2/21 and/or 3/7)
- WGI Indy Regional (3/14-3/15)
- IPA State Prelims (3/21)
- IPA State Finals (3/28)
- Community Show (4/11 or 4/12)
- WGI World Championships (4/16-4/18)
Please check for conflicts with your other activities and look at how it aligns with your school’s spring break. Email dgaking@igniteperformingarts.org if you would like more details about the calendar.
Steps to Audition
- Fill out the registration form.
- Pay your non-refundable $25.00 clinic/audition fee.
- Expect an email within 1 day of registration, which will include your audition packet, a Slack invite, and other resources and information.
- Check Slack for updates and use it to communicate with about carpooling, questions, etc.
- Show up ready to play, learn, and grow.
You may receive a contract at any point throughout the audition process. That contract will include a few steps to finish joining us for the season.
